Stakeholders have advised broadcasters in Nigeria to use the broadcast industry to promote good governance, democracy and key it's focus on the masscommunication principles.
Speaking at the 2nd annual lecture of the National Broadcast commission with the theme: Broadcasting,Democracy and the challenges of the new Nigeria, Guest speaker Prof. Attahiru Jega made clear the essence and importance of broadcast to Nigeria.
Prof Attahiru Jega reteirated that broadcast is an important aspect of information sharing and has a crucial role to play in the present challenges of insurgency, economic downturn thereby helping in diversification of the economy and the fight against corruption.

Highlighting the impacts of broadcast and how it can be repositioned, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed represented by the Permanent secretary, in the ministry of information, Ayotunde Adesugba, said the Federal government has remained committed over the years to promoting broadcast.

It was observed at the forum that many years back broadcasting in Nigeria struggled to be successful but today there are over 450 broadcast stations in Nigeria,thereby creating job opportunities for young Nigerians.
On how successful the NBC has been over the years, The Director general NBC , Is'haq Kawu, said that broadcasting has served as a formidable link between the government and the governed, stating that the marriage of democracy and broadcasting had not been without its upheavals.
The media was lauded for their role played in the last elections recorded as the most free, fair and credible elections held so far.
Moreover to encourage broadcasters analysts posits that attention has to be paid to Adequate funding,institutional independence,Professionalism of staff,Motivation, Security.
